The Inaugural Mercury Cup 2026: A Historic Celebration of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics

From June 5-7, 2026, Team Mercury, led by Anastasia Fomin, Founder and Head Coach of Irene School of Gymnastics, proudly hosted the Aesthetic Group Gymnastics National Championship alongside the very first International Mercury Cup - a landmark event that brought together athletes, coaches, families, and supporters from across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

In addition to hosting the prestigious AGG National Championship, the inaugural Mercury Cup brought together the worlds of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics and Rhythmic Gymnastics under one roof, creating an event centered not only around competition but also artistry, connection, and inspiration.

For three unforgettable days, the competition floor became a place where dedication met passion. Young athletes performed with courage and grace, teams supported one another with genuine sportsmanship, and families filled the arena with energy and encouragement. From tiny gymnasts stepping onto the floor for the very first time to experienced athletes showcasing years of discipline and training, the Mercury Cup celebrated every stage of the gymnastics journey.

Beyond medals and scores, the Mercury Cup was about creating memories. It was about athletes finding confidence, teams building friendships, and families coming together to celebrate hard work, resilience, and achievement. It was a reminder that gymnastics is not only a sport - it is a community built on trust, discipline, artistry, and heart.

That sense of community extended far beyond the competition floor. Coaches, judges, volunteers, photographers, videographers, music and lighting crews, hospitality teams, and families worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create an experience that felt both professional and personal. Every detail reflected the heart and dedication of the people who helped bring the vision to life.

A special thank you goes to Robert Pequeño, Mayor of Lake Forest, California, for attending and supporting the AGG National Championship and Mercury Cup 2026. His presence highlighted the importance of youth athletics, community involvement, and opportunities that help young athletes grow both on and off the competition floor.

Special appreciation goes to the AGG USA Federation for their continued support and commitment to growing Aesthetic Group Gymnastics nationwide. Their leadership and encouragement helped make this historic event possible.

As the inaugural Mercury Cup came to a close, one thing became clear: this was only the beginning. The foundation has been set for a tradition that will continue to grow for years to come, and Team Mercury looks forward to welcoming the gymnastics community back for the 2nd Mercury Cup in 2027.
